The Records Checks Delegation is a special decision-making body within the Commission on Security and Integrity Protection. The function of the Delegation is to examine matters concerning the release of data from various public criminal registers when an individual applies for a security classified employment.
The Swedish Security Service performs the records check after having received an application from the authority wishing to employ or contract an individual. If the registers checked contain information on the person seeking employment, the Records Checks Delegation shall make a relevance assessment of the information from a security point of view before deciding to hand out the information found to be relevant to the applying authority. Unless the information is bound by secrecy towards the individual he or she shall be given the opportunity to comment on the information.
The Delegation consists of a chair, a vice chair and three other members. The chair and vice chair shall be, or have been, permanent judges or have other equivalent legal experience.
